Match the material to the package
Dry boxes, bags and envelopes
Paper is often the practical starting point for dry indoor packaging. It gives a familiar printed surface without implying moisture resistance that the package does not need.
Bottles, jars and frequently handled packaging
Vinyl sheets or white plastic rolls are stronger starting candidates than paper when labels will be handled frequently or may see occasional moisture. Curves, condensation, refrigeration, oils and cleaning still need to be stated with the order.
Clear containers and visible product
Clear materials let the package show through. The proof should account for the container colour, the visibility of light inks and whether selected areas need an opaque white layer.
Premium metallic or holographic effects

A practical 24-hour packaging-fit check
A digital proof confirms size, cut and artwork placement; it cannot reproduce the way a label will behave on every container. Before a larger order, use a physical sample on the real package whenever surface, curve, moisture or handling is uncertain.
- Prepare the real surface. Clean and dry the same jar, bottle, box, pouch or mailer used in production. Avoid testing on a different coating or material.
- Apply at normal room conditions. Press the label from the centre outward, especially around edges and tight curves.
- Wait 24 hours. Adhesive performance immediately after application may differ from performance after the bond has had time to develop.
- Repeat the real handling. Rub packed items together, flex the pouch, chill the bottle or expose the package to the expected moisture and oils. Do not add conditions the product will never face.
- Record what happens. Check edge lift, bubbles, ink scuffing, tearing, cloudiness and whether small text remains readable. Change one variable at a time if another sample is needed.
